Response Question #2

So after reading chapter 2, you should get to know the other dogs in Buck's group.  For question 2, let's rock it out as we explore the quote from the end of the chapter:

"Thus, as token of what a puppet thing life is, the ancient song surged through him and he came into his own again."

What does this mean for Buck?  What does this mean as it applies to you (which begs the question, does this quote even apply to you?)?

On Tuesday, we will discuss the quote and what it could mean, but I want you to be prepared with your books and a small write up (about a paragraph) trying to explain what the quote means in your own words.  Feel free to look words up in the dictionary (I know I'm going to have to go back and challenge my personal definitions of what words mean).  Without some preparation, we cannot move forward, so even if you are unsure, just give it a try.  You never know what great ideas you will hit upon!

Happy reading :)

What buck meant by this is that he found something that gave him some kind of pride and joy and almost the strength to keep on going. in the previous chapter if i recall buck had been beaten and broken, to the point that he didn't know what to do at all. but after time pasted and he had come to realization that no one can break you accept you. and with this it allowed him not to give up hope, and allowed him not to break spirit.

Buck means that he is finding out who he is and what he is capable of. He now realizes what he was meant to do. This quote does not really apply to me yet but it will apply to everybody at some point in their life.

i think the quote relates to me because we all have some type of puppet master in our lives or has somebody in mind when we do the things we do. for example. college! i have my mother in mind every time i do an assignment. i want to succesed becausei know that she believes in me like no other and i want to make her proud. she is why i do the things i do because i love her and she deserves for me to be all i can be.

Buck’s perspective to quote; He has a had an influence of soul behind him throughout his journey. In the physical as well as now what has happened the spiritual. He got caught up shocked, fell down hard and picked himself up again. Buck realized for the first time a pivotal moment in his life I would say that brought him back to oneness with himself. He then realized that it’s all himself who makes the choices. I like the term surged through and came in to his own again. The old soul in him lit back up and now the game is on.
The quote does apply to me, not really knowing if I have felt the surge myself to its entirety. I can tell you one thing I have been shocked, kicked, driven, pushed, pulled and held down and up. I would relate to the term “The pursuit of happiness” I have had little surges and big surges come in and out. I suppose the big real surge will come when I experience complete self actualization of love within myself. With help from god that one day someone out there will love me just as I love myself. Because any less love is not real. I feel as a phone battery at half its bars. I have the beat of heart to go on, but revel in the joy I will feel when my charge is complete. Wow that sounded hot…good job Gary good job Ha.

What buck meant was he must keep doing what he has to do. why should he let the people that tried to break him do just that buck is a fighter if he knows it or not he is.

Buck in this chapter is defined himself and building up the strength to fight through his battle. He is not given up on what people tried to do to him but overcome and show them that he can be strong again.
